The Gospel

WHAT GOD WANTS YOU TO KNOW.

1. GOD CREATED US FOR HIS GLORY.

 “..Bring my sons from afar and my daughters from the ends of the earth… whom I created for my glory…” {Isa. 43:6-7}

The proper understanding of everything in life begins with God. You see, once we were not. Then we existed-for the glory of God!

2. THEREFORE IT IS THE DUTY OF EVERY PERSON TO LIVE FOR THE GLORY OF GOD.

 “So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.”     {I Corinthians 10:31}

If God made us for His glory, it is clear that we should live for His glory. Our duty comes from God’s designed purpose for us.

3. YET ALL OF US HAVE FAILED TO GLORIFY GOD AS WE OUGHT.

 “for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” {Romans 3:23}

None of us have thanked God, trusted God, and treasured God the way we should. We instead have sought our satisfaction in other things and treated them as more valuable than our Creator. The very essence of what the Bible calls sin is not putting supreme value on the glory of God.

4. THEREFORE, ALL OF US ARE SUBJECT TO ETERNAL CONDEMNATION BY GOD.

“For the wages of sin is death..” {Romans 6:23}  and
 “They will be punished with everlasting destruction and shut out from the presence of the Lord and from the majesty of his power.” {II Thess. 1:9}

Having held the glory of God in contempt through ingratitude and distrust and disobedience, we are sentenced to be excluded from the enjoyment of that glory forever in eternal misery.

5. HOWEVER, JESUS CHRIST CAME INTO THE WORLD TO SAVE SINNERS.

 “ Here is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners..” {I Timothy 1:15} and
  “[Jesus] was delivered over to death for our sins and was raised to life for our justification.” {Romans 4:25}

Over against the terrifying news that we have fallen under the condemnation of our Creator, and that He is bound by His own righteous character to punish our sin, is the wonderful news of the gospel. Condemning the sinner to hell is one way to deal with sinners and remain just, but there is another way! The death of the Son of God for sinners! God in His great mercy sent His son, Jesus Christ, to save sinners by dying in their place on the cross. God, by sending His son to die for us, provided a way for us to be saved and for Him to remain perfectly just.

6. TURN FROM SIN AND TRUST THE SAVIOR.

 “Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out..” {Acts 3:19} and
 “..Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved..” {Acts 16:31}

The benefits purchased by the death of Christ belong to those who repent and trust in Him. Not everybody is saved from God’s wrath just because Christ died for sinners. We must come to Jesus in repentance and faith, this is called “conversion”. Conversion, then, is repentance (turning from sin and unbelief) and faith (trusting in Christ alone for salvation). This means that saving faith in Christ always involves a profound change of heart. It is not merely agreement with the truth of a doctrine. The Bible says that Satan agrees with true doctrine {James 2:19}. No, saving faith is far deeper and more pervasive than that. It is the changing of a heart from one that fails to glorify God to a heart that longs to bring Him glory and enjoy Him forever.
We invite you to come to Jesus Christ in repentance and faith. You can do so right now if you believe in Him and turn to Him as your Savior and Lord. If you would like more information on this most important information that God wants you to know, please contact our church and we would love to take the time to explain this more fully to you.
